It was a busy year and it was a lot to keep up with the blogging. I (Sherry) wanted to be the one to write to my clients and not any other staff member because I know I can give you my biggest excitement of having you as my clients than anyone else.
Last year we were invited to two shows: the Philadelphia Flower Show (themed “The Gaden Electric) and the Fleur De Villes Show in Hudson Yards, NYC (where we sponsored by the island of Bermuda; we designed an over 7ft wedding dress out of white flowers – and yes, it was hard to maintain that white if you are asking how we did it.)
Sherry-In a dazzling display of floral artistry, we took the Hudson Yards in New York City by storm with our exquisite creation of a destination bride sponsored by Bermuda Tourism and contributions from EMY Custom Flowers. It was a two-week labor of love that blended the beauty of dry and fresh flowers, capturing the hearts of visitors and passersby alike. This event showcased the passion and creativity that our family at EMY Custom Flowers brings to the Hudson Valley area and beyond. Although I am proudly from Barbados, I was happy to take on the Bermuda in the show as we have very dear friends the Nesbitt’s and Wines in Bermuda. I am hoping that someday we will get to show our skills for our heart and home, Barbados.
The EMY Custom Flowers exhibit, brought to life by the artistic genius of their team, showcased a stunning array of flowers roses, orchids tropical flowers, rose lilies and more. The display was an enchanting fusion of vibrant fresh blooms and elegant dried flowers. It evoked a sense of timeless beauty and a touch of modern charm; most birds have and much like the bridal bouquets they expertly craft for weddings.
The display was more than just an art piece; it was an invitation to explore the endless possibilities of floral arrangements for special occasions. From weddings and anniversaries to birthdays and corporate events, EMY Custom Flowers provides tailor-made creations that capture the essence of each moment.
Bermuda Tourism’s support added a unique dimension to the exhibit, infusing a touch of the island’s natural beauty and vibrant culture. Visitors couldn’t help but feel transported to the sunny beaches and lush landscapes of Bermuda, right in the heart of Hudson Yards.
The team at EMY Custom Flowers reveled in the joy of sharing their creation with a diverse crowd of flower enthusiasts and art lovers. It was heartwarming to witness so many people drawn to the stunning display, taking photos, and sharing in the enchantment of the moment.
The highlight of this exhibit was undoubtedly the bride’s floral hair, Floral shoe and her bodice. EMY Custom Flowers understands that a wedding flowers and a bride’s bouquet is not just a bundle of flowers; it’s a symbol of love, hope, and dreams. Their dedication to crafting these exquisite arrangements was on full display, leaving brides-to-be and event planners inspired and enamored.
It has always been a dream of mine to expose floral art to youngsters. Kevin Anguish of Peekskill and James Thomas was very interested in helping to build the Moon gate for the show. James learned to work with dry organic floral material like tree bark and other materials to bring about the needed look. Organic material can bring about a much deeper learning and in this case the feel of the bark’s texture, awareness of its venerability by its lack of flexibility and seeing it shape provided sensory experiences. Kevin who has volunteered many times with us has been to Gracie Mansion to this show has helped on flower prep and flower care with Sherry.
This showcase isn’t just about admiring the art; it’s a testament to EMY Custom Flowers’ commitment to delivering beauty and emotion through their floral creations. It’s a promise that they carry into every wedding, event, or celebration of life they are a part of.
As the event concluded, the EMY Custom Flowers exhibit was a true reflection of the magic that blossoms when art and nature intertwine. It stands as a testament to their passion and expertise in creating floral arrangements that tell stories, evoke emotions, and bring unforgettable moments to life.
On October 6th Dr. Jill Biden visited Day One School in Poughkeepsie, New York, and we had the honor of designing the flowers for the event. If you haven’t heard of them yet, it is time to pay attention to them and the wonderful things they are doing in their community.

This school is doing a lot in their community, and we were excited to be a small part in this special day for them.
🌻🌻🌻We are proud members of the Putnam County’s Lake Mahopac Garden Club’s Annual Tea Party. As members of the club the EMY Custom Flowers family (along with littlest of the family) got to host our Sunflower table, sit back and enjoy the Saturday evening with some wonderful ladies, friends, and a few husbands that came along. The hats were so pretty, there were lots of food to enjoy and wonderful sounds of clinging teacups. Mahopac Garden club is one of longest running clubs in the area and the members take pride in their community planters, personal gardens and educational engagement.
Sherry- We are always looking for and welcoming new members and it will help with the sustainability of the club. You can learn so much in the club, I myself enjoyed learning about the pollinators in our area and how to attract them to my garden.
EMY is getting ready for two things (hubby would say three) this quarter: Valentine’s days is February 14, 2024, and the Philadelphia Flower Show 2024 theme – United by Flowers – At the Philadelphia Convention Center March 6 thru March 10t. Well, our EMY family men would say the only big thing happening is the NFL- Super Bowl lol. So, outside of the flowers I have to whip up some wings and sliders to be on the good wife list. ❤️ It is very exciting and some hard work but at EMY Custom Flowers we love what we do!

We will carry our lovely red roses and other colors. There is something about red roses and love and they remain the most popular flower for Valentine’s Day.
As we all celebrate the love in our lives, we want to make sure you have the flowers you can be proud of and carry charm.
NOTE: There is an uprising in Ecuador, where the majority of the roses come from in the US, so the industry may face some shortages. We are asking our returning clients to place their orders early for Valentine’s because we sell out early each year and don’t want you to miss out. For our returning clients, we would like to offer you 5% off your Valentine’s orders that are placed before January 30, 2024!! Placing orders early gives us the ability to serve you better. When you place your order, let us know if you need a special color besides red roses or traditional one dozen roses. If you are looking for another color, please let me know early. I will be designing roses and three other garden variety with a mix color for your sweethearts.
You must let us know if your order will go to a place of business because those orders need to be handled differently and delivered differently than the individual orders.
