Celebrating the Life of Queen Elizabeth II 1926- 2022.

As a young girl in both primary and Secondary school, I always sang in our school choirs. The late Queen visited Barbados various times, and I have had the honor of experiencing three of those visits. Her visit in 1985 was my last performance for Queen Elizabeth II and King Phillip with my school’s choir (St. Leonards Girls Choir). I remember the many practices and how nervous we were. It was here our Choir Mistress, Shirley Yarbourgh taught us the Bahi prayer ( Is There Any Removal of Difficulties) to help soothe our nerves.

As a devoted lover of flowers and a florist, I cannot help but wonder how beautiful the flowers must be. I am also looking at the funeral flowers, the colours, and the casket flowers. I was told that Queen Elizabeth II was a fan of roses and a beautiful flower garden. I would love to design flowers for the Queen’s funeral. I will miss the Queen and may she rest in peace.

What a Historical Day and time. Condolences to King Charles and the rest of the Royal Family from the family at EMY Custom Flowers.

I will be pinned to the television during the 10 days of mourning especially, The Queen’s State Funeral on Monday, September 19, 2022, and I am hoping to see Harry in uniform, King Charles.

My island Barbados, AKA, Little England was under British rule for 400 years. We ended that rule in 2021 and became a republic. Under its constitution, Barbados is a parliamentary democracy modeling the British system. The governor general represented the monarch. Control of the government rests with the cabinet, headed by the prime minister and responsible to the Parliament. Our President is former Governor General, Sandra Mason; The Honorable, Mia Mottley is our Prime Minister, and Music Artist, Rihanna is our Ambassador. This female leadership can give hope to many women around the world.
